RACE WIN AND 4TH IN THE STANDINGS FOR IN-FORM PERCAT 🔥
Nick Percat has continued his blistering form in the 2024 Supercars Championship at the Australian Grand Prix, collecting a strong haul of points across the race event which culminated in an emphatic Race 6 win.
The Bendix Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 rolled out of the garage ready for battle in Melbourne, as the #10 secured P6 and P14 on the grid for the opening two races of the event, which Percat would convert to dual sixth-place finishes.
Qualifying a lowly P18 for Race 5, the determined South Australian put his head down and sliced his way through the field throughout the 14-lap race, climbing an impressive nine positions to finish the race in P9.
Piecing together a fast lap during the event's final qualifying session, Percat posted the fourth-fastest time, putting him in a prime position to showcase the speed of his Camaro as the final race arrived.
Race 6 showcased the skill of the resurgent driver, who demonstrated speed, racecraft, and a high racing IQ as he made his way into the lead during the opening stages. From there, Percat would fend off challenges launched behind him to ultimately reign supreme, and capture a well-earned, emotional race victory.
Following what was an impressive round in Melbourne, Percat now sits in fourth place in the standings after two rounds, with the season now headed to Taupō for the next event.
Nick Percat: “The story of what I’ve dealt with over the last couple of years makes this win a massive one for me. A huge thank you is owed to the Bendix Racing crew and everyone at Matt Stone Racing. The moment I got to do a couple of laps in Cam's (Hill’s) car at his rookie day earlier in the year, I went ‘Oh my God, this is going to be a good year.’ It’s been amazing, the team does such a great job, they are a racing family and all they want to do is win races and go well. That’s the thing that makes us strong, is that you have core racers in there like Jimmy Stone building uprights, Matt’s on the tools - it’s the old saying of good management, you flip the pyramid upside down, and be there on the ground with the troops, that’s what Matt is.”
